What sort of group can I book?

We have groups like Woodwind Trio, Saxophone Quartet, Brass Quintet, Brass Ensemble,

Wind Quintet, Wind Octet, Nonet, German Band, Small Concert Band, a Large Concert Band and soon a Big Band.

What sort of functions can we book for?

Weddings, parties, meals, business functions, Concerts, Outside in Parks or Gardens,

under a Marquee; 'Mozart by Candle light, Cheese and wine receptions -

you name it we can probably deliver anything!

Would a group be willing/able to travel to play?

Depends on how far and when? If it's quite a distance weekend is better than a week night.

Smaller groups may be able to play during the week, just ask.

More than 10 miles may incurred extra charges for travel, just ask.

How many players are in the larger groups?

German Band about 15-18 players, small band about 25 players, and full band 40 + players.

What sort of music can the groups supply bands for?

We can play Classical Chamber music (smaller groups) to little jazzy pieces, film and telly themes, German Dances (waltzes, polkas, marches etc- German Band), modern exiting wind music to standard classics. We can do just about anything in our flexible NOW Community Wind Band College established October 2005 the country's first!

How long would they play for?

Up to you; usually 1-2 hours.

What are the usual costs?

Depends on size of the group but usually between £150 and £350 an hour.

Can you play for charity functions for a donation?

Yes, sometimes. Just ask.

Is this value for money, how do you compare to professional groups?

We sound very professional at a fraction of the cost of hiring professional musicians.

Typically it would cost well over a £1000 to hire a professional string quartet for a couple of hours! But a professional Orchestra costs at least £15,000 for an evening concert..... This is why the arts usually have to be well subsidised!!!!

Do we need to provide anything special?

Enough space to perform, in some cases a room to put coats cases and to change, sometimes refreshments for the players, adequate lighting and solid chairs,

- not plastic garden chairs.
